Spreading an act of Kindness: Free Bike Cleaning

On Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, during the busy lunch hours at Solar Kitchen, YouthLink members offered free bike cleaning as an act of kindness. We chose Solar Kitchen so people could park their bikes, enjoy their lunch, and return to find their bikes clean.

Initially, things started off slow, as many people thought the bike wash was a promotion or required a payment. However, once our team members began engaging with people and explaining our mission, we quickly attracted a long line of bikes ready to be washed! Our team also walked through the parking area, cleaning rearview mirrors and giving quick wipes to parked bikes. We even ended up cleaning a car!

Our team of 10 members managed to wash around 60 bikes. We carried out this event in the spirit of kindness, with no transactions involved, and encouraged everyone to spread kindness to others wherever they could. The atmosphere was very positive, with everyone showing gestures of gratitude and beautiful smiles on their faces.

The objective of this event was to spread kindness and demonstrate how a small act can bring a smile to others and foster a positive environment. Moving forward, we are planning more events like this to continue spreading kindness and joy.
