We hosted our first tree planting workshop!
It's purpose was to give anyone interested a crash course in the correct way of planting tree saplings and ensuring that they grow strong and healthy.
Initially, setting a date for this was a little bit difficult as we needed guaranteed rainfall for a few day after the workshop. This was because the saplings needed to have a regular source of water after being planted.
Luckily, it started to rain earlier than was expected and we were able to host the workshop as planned.
We were fortunate enough to have an amazing facilitator called Island who's years of experience and passion for forestry made the workshop very engaging and fun.
We spend the first part of the morning learning theory and had the opportunity to ask questions whenever needed. After, we went into the forest and began to plant a lot of trees!
The trees were carefully picked by Island and were all rare breeds that followed the TDEF (Tropical Dry Ever-Green Forest), a unique ecosystem of trees and plants found in India and other parts of the world.
We look forward to hopefully hosting many more workshops like this!
