Tamil Cooking Class

On the 20th of May 2023 we got to organise a workshop on Tamil cooking at Botanical Garden where we had the chance to learn how to cook Kara Kuzhrumbu, cabbage poriel and more…

Throughout this experience we were guided by a dedicated and passionate woman named Shivakala. She made sure all the participants understood the process by repeating and explaining differently all the steps while being kind and patient. She taught us the names of the different spices and vegetables in Tamil, and even gave us a piece of their history!

This workshop was a great opportunity for the participants to immerse themselves in the beautiful culture of this state we live in, by learning, making and eating traditional south Indian food all together!

All the attendees as well as the facilitators and YouthLink members got to express their love for food and for the South Indian Culture all while having fun and learning about a variety of subjects!

We would like to continue to offer those kinds of workshops, where we get to meet new people, learn and have fun while at the same time appreciate delicious food all together!

Let us know if you’d be interested in a specific way of cooking, if there is a particular dish or culture you would like to explore, or if you would just like to have another opportunity to get together with the community!

Reach us in the comments below or by sending us an email at: youthlink@auroville.org.in
